SEE THE MEIBOMIAN GLANDS IN HIGH DEFINITION WITH LIPISCAN.
HD Imaging of Meibomian Glands
TearScience has released LipiScan, the first and only dedicated high definition (HD) gland imager that allows eyecare professionals (ECPs) to efficiently evaluate meibomian glands, according to the company.
TearScience says the new rapid imager was created with end users in mind. Fast and intuitive, LipiScan harnesses patented dynamic meibomian imaging (DMI) technology to produce HD images of meibomian glands. LipiScan allows ECPs to assess meibomian gland structure during routine workups in any practice setting, according to the company.
LipiScan can capture images of the meibomian glands in 10 seconds; it is user-friendly, with an interface designed for ease of image capture (two steps) by a single operator; and it is durable, but with a small footprint—at less than 25 lbs., it can be used anywhere in lighted lanes (no need for a darkened room), according to TearScience. The DMI technology features Dynamic Illumination—surface lighting originates from multiple light sources to minimize reflection; Adaptive Transillumination—changes the light intensity across the surface of the illuminator to compensate for lid thickness variations between patients; and Dual-Mode DMI—combination of Dynamic Illumination and Adaptive Transillumination that offers a multidimensional view of meibomian gland structure, according to the company. New Easy-to-Use Handheld Tonometer
Icare USA, a subsidiary of Icare Finland, announced the release of the Icare ic100 tonometer, which uses the same rebound technology as its predecessor, the Icare TA01i. The new device adds ergonomic features and has a new user interface for taking intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements.
MEASURING IOP JUST GOT EASIER WITH THE NEW ICARE IC100.
The company says that the Icare EasyNav interface and the unit’s large color screen make this device easy to use. It requires no calibration. And, like its predecessor, the Icare ic100 requires no drops, air, or specialized skills for use.
A built-in intelligent position assistant, called the Icare EasyPos, makes the Icare ic100 easier to use than ever before, according to the company. Red and green lights help operators guide the tonometer into the correct position for testing. Professionals simply load, align, and measure.
The company says that the device also features Icare AMS, an automated measuring sequence that takes a series of six measurements with a single touch of a button. Call (919) 825-4879 or visit www.icare-usa.com.
New All-in-One Metrology Device for Lens Manufacturers
LUMETRICS’ CLEARWAVE PLUS COMBINES THE LENS MEASURING CAPABILITIES OF THREE SEPARATE INSTRUMENTS INTO ONE.
Lumetrics, Inc., a leading provider of ophthalmic metrology solutions, now offers ClearWave Plus, the company’s latest contact lens measurement solution. The ClearWave Plus combines a modified ClearWave with the industry standard OptiGauge thickness measurement system to provide the contact lens manufacturing industry with enhanced precision measurement solutions in a single instrument, according to the company.
Lumetrics says that, until now, obtaining the critical measurements would have required the use of three separate instruments, which can slow down the QC process, decrease speed-to-market, and ultimately impact overall profitability. The ClearWave Plus provides simultaneous center thickness, sagittal height, diameter, radius of curvature, and all wavefront measurements to contact lens manufacturers. Customers can now test more lenses efficiently and with less operator involvement, which reduces possible measurement errors, according to Lumetrics.
