LAUNCHED AMID the COVID-19 pandemic, the Optometric Business Tracker (OBT) is a collaboration between GPN Technologies and CLS publisher BroadcastMed that reveals sales and exams data from more than 2,200 practice locations across the country.

Here, we share August 2023 practice data reported by GPN on Sept. 5. Compared with July 2023, August of this year saw increases of more than 15% each for exams, frames, and patient payments; contact lenses were also up 12%. Compared with August of last year, the month saw minor decreases in specific product categories, but overall patient payments were up nearly 3%.
