Bausch + Lomb Launches Zenlens Echo Scleral Lenses in the U.S.
Bausch + Lomb Corporation announced the U.S. launch of Zenlens Echo, a non-prosthetic, custom scleral contact lens technology designed to fit a wide variety of corneal shapes and sizes, including patients who have advanced ocular conditions such as corneal degeneration and certain postoperative conditions.
According to the company, Zenlens Echo can be used with a variety of technologies already available in clinical practice, including a slit lamp, optical coherence tomography scanning, profilometry, or a Bi-Elevation fitting set. There is no additional training or certification required.
CooperVision Specialty Lens Program Updates
CooperVision will roll out a series of updates for U.S. customers who fit the company’s portfolio of specialty contact lenses on May 15. Among these changes are:
- Extended warranties for all scleral, hybrid, and GP lens products from 90 to 120 days
- Unlimited free exchanges and no cancellation fees for all products including SynergEyes VS, ScanFitPRO, Blanchard multifocals, corneal GP lenses, and single vision
- The ability to transfer to another product within the portfolio for exchanges to get the best lens for patients (applicable for scleral, hybrid, and GP lenses)
- New all-inclusive Onefit and Onefit SC scleral lens option
- Paragon CRT and Dual Axis lenses are now warranted by default, unless otherwise specified, to ensure a better fitting experience.
Some products will also undergo price adjustments at that time.
IACLE Opens Applications for Its 2024 Awards
The International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE) is offering educators worldwide the chance to become an IACLE Contact Lens Educator of the Year and travel to the annual meeting of the American Academy of Optometry in Indianapolis on Nov. 6-9. The IACLE Contact Lens Educator of the Year title will be awarded to three individuals, one from each of IACLE's three global regions: Americas; Asia-Pacific; and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
These awards recognize achievements in contact lens education and are sponsored by CooperVision. The winners will each receive a bursary of up to $3,000 toward the cost of attending Academy 2024 Indianapolis this year and permission to use the title “2024 IACLE Contact Lens Educator of the Year” for their region.
The IACLE Contact Lens Educator Awards are open to all contact lens educators who have been IACLE members for at least three years. Applicants can either nominate themselves or be nominated by another member or IACLE staff. Educators must demonstrate how they impact their institutions and inspire their students to become future contact lens practitioners.
The IACLE Travel Awards are bursaries of up to $3,000, allowing IACLE members to attend a meeting on a national, regional, or international basis. The IACLE Travel Awards are sponsored by IACLE through the support of all IACLE’s sponsors (Alcon, CooperVision, Johnson & Johnson Vision, Bausch + Lomb, Ophtecs, Menicon, and Euclid).

Lumibird Medical Announces Launch of Dry Eye Diagnostic Aid
Lumibird Medical, a medical division of Lumibird Group, has announced the launch of the C.DIAG, an autonomic dry eye diagnostic aid platform that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. According to the company, the new diagnostic aid brings with it a new component of the company’s C.SUITE platform.
The C.DIAG is the third feature of the C.SUITE, with C.STIM providing treatment aid. Designed by Quantel Medical, the C.STIM is an intense pulsed light system that treats DED by correcting meibomian gland dysfunction, inflammation, and Demodex, according to the company.
