March 31, 2024 On April 8, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the U.S., and Canada. Several companies and organizations have offered tips and tools that eyecare practitioners can use to help their patients protect their eyesight. Here is a sampling of those resources:
The Vision Council - Protect Your Eyes, See the Skies
Practitioners can download an eclipse social media toolkit and/or eclipse PDF guide at thevisioncouncilfoundation.org/eclipse.
MyEyeDr. and Prevent Blindness
In partnership with Prevent Blindness, MyEyeDr. is giving away expert-approved solar eclipse glasses in 438 offices across 20 states in the eclipse’s path of totality. Community members can stop into their local MyEyeDr. to get a pair of free solar eclipse glasses, at participating locations while supplies last.
Lighthouse Guild
The company has offered five tips to help protect your eyes while viewing the eclipse at lighthouseguild.org/news/how-to-safely-watch-the-solar-eclipse-five-tips-from-lighthouse-guild.
