Honoring the Past, Entering the Future

It is exciting and a great honor to become the fourth editor of Contact Lens Spectrum and Contact Lenses Today. This journal's pre-eminent heritage in the comprehensive coverage of the cornea and contact lens fields is something I pledge to honor and maintain.

I can't thank our emeritus editors, Drs. Neal Bailey, Joe Barr and Carla Mack, enough for laying the groundwork in establishing the roots of this journal. Without a doubt, they each personify world-class contact lens clinicians, educators and researchers. I'm extremely grateful to the out-going editor, Dr. Carla Mack. In the time that our careers have crossed paths, I have observed the positive impact she has made in her professional activities. She is a premiere contact lens practitioner who knows the ins-and-outs of the business in so many ways. In addition to her role as editor of Contact Lens Spectrum and Contact Lenses Today and her responsibilities at The Ohio State University, she also had the motivation and courage to acquire new tools while in mid-career. This now enables her to move forward in a different direction that will challenge her in new and exciting ways. Please extend your warmest well-wishes to her as she ventures on to this new phase of her professional life.

In the months and years to come, I look forward to continuing to set a high standard of delivering timely, informative, provocative and comprehensive contact lens literature to you. We look forward to providing you with the most up-to-date clinical and scientific information to expand your knowledge and help you grow your practices. I will work closely with our team of editors during this period of transition to ensure that it is seamless. I'm fortunate to have many great friends and colleagues in the field of whom I will ask for contributions and assistance along the way in this new venture of my own career.
