Silicone Hydrogel Multifocal Launches
Ciba Vision has launched Air Optix Aqua Multifocal, a new silicone hydrogel multifocal contact lens. Air Optix Aqua Multifocal lenses can provide clear vision at different stages of presbyopia with three levels of add power corrections, according to Ciba.
CIBA'S AIR OPTIX AQUA MULTIFOCAL OFFERS THREE LEVELS OF ADD CORRECTION.
The Lo Add lens is designed for emerging presbyopes and provides up to 1.00D add. It has the right amount of add to optimize near and intermediate vision without compromising distance vision, and the lens is designed to successfully fit emerging presbyopes sooner by providing a subtle transition out of distance-only lenses, according to the manufacturer.
As presbyopia further progresses and patients need more near vision correction, Ciba says that the Med Add and Hi Add lenses gradually introduce more correction for near vision to smoothly transition patients through the different stages of presbyopia so they can stay in contact lenses longer.
Air Optix Multifocal lenses are manufactured in lotrafilcon B and can be worn for up to six nights of extended wear. The recommended replacement schedule is four weeks. Parameters include sphere powers from +6.00D to −10.00D in 0.25D steps, 8.6mm base curve, and 14.2mm diameter. Call (800) 241-5999 or visit www.procare.cibavision.com.
New Software for Corneal Topographers
Carl Zeiss Meditec recently released new software for its Atlas Corneal Topography System.
The new Atlas Review Software allows each patient's diagnostic information to be accessed from any computer within the office or from a remote location. Providing greater freedom and flexibility while streamlining workflow processes, Atlas Review Software allows users to retrieve important patient data from the patient exam lane, front and back office, research center, or any networked location, according to the manufacturer. Carl Zeiss Meditec says the Atlas Review software also eliminates the need for static printouts, increases the instrument's availability within the office, and allows practitioners to educate patients more easily from any computer screen within the office.
Atlas Review Software is available for Atlas Models 993, 995, and 9000. New Atlas Review Software will also provide Model 993 and 995 customers with advanced software capabilities, such as corneal wavefront data, mean curvature maps, and image simulations, which are already included in the newer Atlas 9000.
The new MasterFit II Contact Lens Software for Atlas 9000 is also available. MasterFit II is designed to make fitting GP lenses faster and easier while minimizing chair time, according to the manufacturer. Simulated fluorescein patterns and tear film thickness profiles are designed to promote effective lens design, including spherical, aspheric, bitoric, back toric and front toric lenses.
