New Lens Option for Post-LASIK Patients
Art Optical recently introduced CLASIKcn, a new custom GP multifocal lens designed for post-LASIK patients struggling with near-vision demands. The lens features front-surface, center-near technology specifically designed to provide a full range of simultaneous vision for post-LASIK corneas, according to the company. Art Optical says that CLASIKcn is a great option for those finding their surgically induced modified monovision effect becoming inefficient as they advance in presbyopia, or for any postrefractive surgery patient encountering presbyopic progression.
The mechanics of the CLASIKcn dual reverse geometry posterior curve system create alignment with both the post-treatment area and the nontreated cornea outside of the ablation zone for a comfortable, stable fit, while the strategically placed optic system restores maximum distance, intermediate, and near visual function, according to Art Optical.
CLASIKcn is manufactured in HDS materials (Paragon Vision Sciences) and is backed by Art Optical’s Risk- Free Signature lens guarantee. CLASIKcn can be fit and designed from corneal topography and refractive data, or from pre/post-surgical Ks and refractive data, or by using the CLASIKcn Diagnostic Fitting Set. New Portable Slit Lamp Available
Earlier this year, Keeler Ophthalmic Instruments launched the PSL One. With one standard magnification of 10x, Keeler says that the PSL One is a more cost-effective option compared to the company’s Classic Portable Slit Lamp (PSL).
Keeler has designed its PSL One to be lightweight and durable, ideal for use on pediatric, elderly, obese, and disabled patients in onor off-site clinics. Its precision- machined aluminum chassis creates a sturdy structure able to withstand daily travel and use in a busy practice, according to the company.
KEELER’S PSL ONE IS A LIGHTWEIGHT AND DURABLE AS WELL AS COST-EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE TO THE CLASSIC PSL.
PSL One features slit and wheels from 0.15mm to 1.6mm, a 12mm circle and a 1mm square to produce anterior chamber flare. Red free, blue, and ND (Neutral Density) filters all come as standard.
An optional iPhone 4 adaptor enables ophthalmic video capture. Call (800) 523-5620 or visit www.keelerusa.com.
Paragon Enters Scleral Lens Market
Paragon Vision Sciences recently announced the introduction of NormalEyes 15.5, the only scleral lens design that employs a Dual Axis scleral landing zone. In addition, Paragon says that this 15.5mm-diameter design utilizes crossover technology combining the patented Proximity Control and Dual Axis technologies also found in Paragon CRT. Dual Axis Technology minimizes lens flexure and ensures rotational stability by providing appropriate sagittal depths in cross meridians, according to the company. Paragon says that the Dual Axis feature results in predictable centration and helps provide enhanced comfort.
NormalEyes 15.5 delivers precise corneal and limbal clearance and allows eyecare professionals to control three independent zones, according to the company. The Dual Axis landing zone is designed to allow near-equal circumferential scleral contact and simultaneous control of limbal clearance and edge lift. The patented convex-to-the-eye posterior edge configuration results in predictable conjunctival compression without the possibility of corneal impingement, according to Paragon.
The lens is manufactured in Paragon HDS 100 material, laser marked with lens parameters, and is plasma treated. Paragon says that it can be prescribed on normal corneas as well as on corneas that have regular astigmatism, keratoconus, and PMD and on post-LASIK, post-RK, post-PKP, and post- DALK corneas.
