Silicone Hydrogel Lens Family Launches in U.S.

Sauflon has launched its Clariti 1Day family of silicone hydrogel daily disposable contact lenses in the U.S. market. Sauflon says its AquaGen technology produces high-quality silicone hydrogel lenses that provide exceptional comfort and affordable convenience for wearers.

All three Clariti 1Day lenses are manufactured in somofilcon A material, which has a water content of 56%, modulus of 0.5MPa, and UVA/UVB protection.

Parameters of Clariti 1Day include 8.6mm base curve, 14.1mm diameter, powers of –10.00D to +8.00D (0.25DS steps up to ±6.00D, 0.50DS steps beyond ±6.00D), center thickness (at –3.00DS) of 0.07mm, and Dk/t (at –3.00DS) of 86. Clariti 1 Day Toric has an 8.6mm base curve and 14.3mm diameter. Power ranges include plano to –6.00D (0.25DS steps), –6.50D to –9.00D (0.50DS steps) with cylinder options of –0.75D, –1.25D, and –1.75D in axes of 90º ±30º and 180º ±20º, –2.25D in axes of 90º and 180º ±20º; and +0.25D to +4.00D (0.25DS steps) with cylinder options of –0.75D, –1.25D, and –1.75D in axes of 20°, 70°, 90°, 110°, 160°, and 180°. Center thickness (at –3.00DS) is 0.105mm, and Dk/t at (–3.00DS) is 57. The Clariti 1Day Multifocal has the same base curve, diameter, center thickness, and Dk/t as the Clariti 1Day lens. Custom Soft Lens for Irregular Corneas

X-Cel Contacts has added the Flexlens ARC (Atypical Refractive Correction) custom soft lens design for irregular corneas. X-Cel says this custom soft lens design fits like a regular toric contact lens. It uses a standard back-surface fitting curve, precise axis, cylinder, and an enhanced center thickness to stabilize the correction over an aberrated cornea, according to X-Cel.

The Flexlens ARC is manufactured in Contamac’s Definitive material. Parameters include base curves of 6.0mm to 8.7mm in 0.1mm steps, 8.6mm standard fitting curve, diameters of 13.0mm to 16.0mm in 0.5mm steps, powers of ±50.00D, cylinder powers of –0.50D to –10.00D in 0.25D steps with axes from 1° to 180° in 1º steps, 1.50 standard prism with 2.00 available, and center thicknesses of 0.30mm and 0.50mm.

Progressive Multifocal GP Makes U.S. Debut

Essilor Contact Lens Specialists (Essilor CLS) now offers the Expert Progressive GP lens in the United States. This progressive multifocal GP lens allows no compromise of near or distance vision while providing crisp, clear intermediate vision, according to the company.

The Expert Progressive is manufactured in Boston ES, Boston EO, Boston XO, and Boston XO2 (all Bausch + Lomb) materials. Parameters include base curves of 7.20mm to 8.60mm in 0.05mm steps, overall diameters of 8.50mm to 10.00mm in 0.50mm steps, powers of –15.00D to +10.00D in 0.25D steps, and add powers of +1.00D to +3.50D in 0.25D steps.
