SCLERAL LENS LINE EXPANDS
Valley Contax now offers new options in it Custom Stable line of scleral lenses.
The Custom Stable Elite is now available in a Quadrant Specific option that allows independent adjustments to the Scleral Landing Zone and/or the Limbal Clearance Zone in any of the four available quadrants.
A new Edge Vault option is available for the Custom Stable Elite and the Custom Stable Aurora multifocal design. Use this option to vault over extremely high sections of the cornea/limbus due to pingueculas or any other form of elevation, according to the company.
Finally, the Custom Stable Elite and Aurora designs both have a Lite option that relaxes the reverse curve when limbal clearance is excessive. Valley Contax says to use this option to hug the cornea, reduce fogging, and flatten the landing zone.
The Custom Stable Aurora fitting set has also been refined, with lenses separated into visual zones to help make fitting easier, according to the company. Call (800) 547-8815 or visit www.valleycontax.com . ■

MONTHLY SIHY FOR ASTIGMATISM AVAILABLE
Bausch + Lomb (B+L) has launched Bausch + Lomb Ultra for Astigmatism contact lenses, a monthly silicone hydrogel lens that combines MoistureSeal technology and OpticAlign design, engineered for stability to promote a successful first fit.
B+L says that the MoistureSeal technology helps to maintain 95% of lens moisture for a full 16 hours through a two-phase polymerization process. The OpticAlign design was developed after extensively analyzing, testing, and optimizing numerous lens geometries to determine which performed best with the Bausch + Lomb Ultra contact lens material. The design also features spherical aberration control optimized in both axes to help reduce halos and glare, according to B+L.
Bausch + Lomb Ultra for Astigmatism lenses are manufactured in samfilcon A (46% water) material, which has a Dk/t of 114 at the center of a –3.00D lens. Parameters include 8.6mm base curve, 14.5mm diameter, spherical powers of plano to –6.00D in 0.25D steps, and cylinder powers of –0.75D, –1.25D, –1.75D, and –2.25D in axes of 10º to 180º in 10º steps. Spherical powers up to –12.00D will be available later this year. Call (800) 828-9030 or visit www.bausch.com/ufa . ■
NEW EYEGLASS LENS DESIGNED FOR CONTACT LENS WEARERS
Zeiss now offers Zeiss EnergizeMe Lenses, which the company says is the first and only eyeglass lens in the industry designed specifically for vision needs of contact lens wearers.
Contact lens wearers often wear their lenses for extended periods, which causes them to experience eyestrain and fatigue. Zeiss says that its EnergizeMe Lenses are a unique combination of a new lens design with Digital Inside Technology and DuraVision BlueProtect coating for optimum comfort and protection from digital eyestrain and blue light. They help tired eyes relax and prevent eyestrain caused by digital devices, according to Zeiss.
Three EnergizeMe lens options are available. Zeiss EnergizeMe Single Vision Lenses are designed for patients in their 20s and early 30s. They use a small addition of 0.40D to help tired eyes relax. Zeiss EnergizeMe Digital Lenses are designed for patients in their 30s and early 40s who are in between single-vision and progressive lenses. They have a power boost of 0.65D. Zeiss EnergizeMe Progressive Lenses are intended for those 40 years and older who require a power boost of 0.75D to 4.00D. Zeiss says that these lenses adapt to the visual behavior of presbyopic contact lens wearers who are used to eye movements rather than head movements while wearing contact lenses. They provide a balanced reading zone and a seamless distribution of power across the progressive lens to ensure a relaxed vision experience, according to the company. TONOMETER ALLOWS FOR AT HOME IOP MONITORING
Icare USA, a subsidiary of Icare Finland, announced that the Icare Home tonometer has been cleared by the FDA and is now available for use in the United States. The Icare Home device, which received CE Marking in 2014, uses the same patented rebound technology as in other Icare tonometers, such as the ic100 and the TA01i, and requires no specialized skills for patient use.
The unit’s built-in Icare EyeSmart technology performs automatic OD/OS recognition. Positioning is also easy thanks to Icare EasyPos, which uses red and green light signals to help patients correctly position the tonometer, according to the company. The Icare Home also features Icare AMS, an automated measuring sequence that can take either a single measurement or a series of six measurements with one touch of a button. It also involves no puff of air and requires no drops. Call (888) 422-7313 or visit www.icare-usa.com . ■
