SILICONE HYDROGEL TORIC DAILY DISPOSABLE LAUNCHES

CooperVision recently introduced MyDay toric daily disposable contact lenses in the United States. MyDay toric features the same Optimized Toric Lens Geometry of the Biofinity toric, providing uniform horizontal ISO thickness, an optimized ballast band design, large toric optic zone, and a smooth, continuous surface to make it an easy-to-fit, stable toric lens, according to the company.

In addition, the MyDay family of lenses is made with Smart Silicone chemistry, which CooperVision says optimizes oxygen permeability in a lens that is just 4.4% silicon—the lowest percentage of silicon found in a silicone hydrogel, one-day lens. By using less silicon, Smart Silicone chemistry leaves more room in the lens for hydrophilic material, resulting in improved surface wettability, higher water content, and lower modulus of 0.4MPa for a softer, more comfortable lens-wearing experience, according to the company.

CooperVision says that the MyDay family of lenses is naturally wettable, without coatings or surface treatments. Built-in UV protection filters 85% of UVA and 96% of UVB rays.

MyDay toric lenses are currently available in sphere powers from plano to –6.00D (0.25D steps) and –6.00D to –10.00D (0.50D steps), with cylinder options of –0.75D, –1.25D, and –1.75D in axes of 10°, 20°, 70°, 80°, 90°, 100°, 110°, 160°, 170°, and 180° and –2.25D in axes of 10°, 20°, 90°, 160°, 170°, and 180°. EXPANDED PARAMETERS FOR SIHY TORIC

CooperVision announced the nationwide availability of expanded parameters for its Avaira Vitality Toric two-week contact lenses, which now include plus powers, high minus powers, and a –2.25D cylinder. Avaira Vitality Toric is manufactured in fanfilcon A (55% water) and uses the company’s Optimized Toric Lens Geometry. The lens now also has a Class I UV protection rating.

The expanded range includes sphere powers of +8.00D to –10.00D with cylinder options of –0.75D, –1.25D, –1.75D, and –2.25D in axes from 10° to 180° in 10° steps. SOFT KERATOCONUS LENS ENTERS U.S. MARKET

Under license from UltraVision CLPL, Art Optical is now manufacturing and supplying KeraSoft Thin contact lenses in the United States. According to the companies, KeraSoft Thin is the thinnest soft contact lens available for the irregular cornea. The thinner design improves wearing comfort and increases oxygen transmission through the lens, according to the companies. The ultra-thin design also increases lens flexibility for improved drape over the cornea, reducing the need for peripheral adjustments on complex corneas.

The KeraSoft Thin design is fit with the aid of an eight-lens diagnostic set available for $250; additional fitting resources, training aids, and a practitioner locator are available at kerasoftlens.com.

Manufactured in Definitive silicone hydrogel material (Contamac), parameters for KeraSoft Thin include base curves of 7.4mm to 9.4mm; diameters of 14.00mm, 14.50mm, and 15.0mm; sphere powers of ±30.00D; cylinder powers from –0.50D to –15.00D in axes of 1º to 180º (1º steps); peripheries of FLT4 to FLT1, STD, and STP1 to STP4; and SMC up to two sectors.
