As you read this, I am sure that you’ve noticed that this is our Annual GP and Custom Soft Lens Issue of Contact Lens Spectrum. Dedicating the October issue to GP lenses is a tradition that we started more than 20 years ago, and we recently expanded this to include custom soft lenses as well. It is something that we are proud to celebrate every year given the continued excitement around specialty contact lenses and specialty contact lens practice.
We are extremely excited about the custom soft lens category. These lenses offer practices and patients the ultimate in customization with soft lens materials such that nearly anyone can be fit with precision and accuracy. These lenses allow for the successful fitting of patients who have high astigmatism, unusual corneal or ocular surface topography, or irregular corneas. Likewise, this modality is very useful when fitting soft multifocals in that the ultimate fit and power can be specifically prescribed to meet each individual patient’s needs. Think of it as precision medicine for the soft contact lens practice!
We are tremendously thankful to the specialty lens industry as a whole, which continues to innovate and to provide us with the most advanced contact lens materials and designs. We appreciate all that you do, which allows us to take the best care of our patients.
