Alcon has announced Total30 for Astigmatism to address the dryness and discomfort astigmatic contact lens wearers are likely to experience, according to the company. The reusable contact lenses feature Water Gradient material designed to provide clear, comfortable, and stable vision for astigmatic contact lens wearers, Alcon shares.
The Water Gradient design of Total30 for Astigmatism lenses features biomimetic Celligent Technology that, according to Alcon, helps resist bacteria and lipid deposits, designed to keep lenses clean throughout their month-long life span. Harrow Introduces Fortisite Formulations for In-Office Use
Harrow has announced the in-office availability of Fortisite, a compounded formulation of Tobramycin 1.5% and Vancomycin 5% from the company’s U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-registered and FDA-inspected ImprimisRx 503B outsourcing facility.
According to Harrow, Fortisite formulations are high-concentration, refrigeration-stable, fortified antibiotic formulations in solution—the first such product eyecare professionals can stock in their practices for immediate treatment of patients in need. Additionally, Harrow shares that ImprimisRx will replace any expired product to ensure that ECPs can continuously stock Fortisite formulations in their offices.
Compounded medications are not reviewed by the FDA for safety or efficacy, and ImprimisRx doesn’t compound copies of commercially available products.
CooperVision Specialty EyeCare Launches Visavy
CooperVision Specialty EyeCare has launched a digital fitting tool, Visavy. The web-based fitting software incorporates topography-guided algorithms to assist with the design and selection of Paragon CRT orthokeratology contact lenses for myopia management.
Visavy is an adaption of the company’s MyProcornea tool, which has been available in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia for other CooperVision specialty lens designs. The topography-driven approach and view-simulated fluorescein patterns promote greater precision and accuracy. In addition, eyecare professionals and staff can easily log in and manage their product range anywhere, at any time, according to CooperVision.
Bausch + Lomb Announces Vitamins with OCUSorb
Bausch + Lomb has introduced PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula mini soft gel vitamins with OCUSorb. According to the company, OCUSorb has been clinically shown to enable superior absorption of nutrients compared to the original PreserVision AREDS 2 mini soft gel formula.
In addition to the inclusion of OCUSorb, Bausch + Lomb shares that the vitamins contain the exact nutrient formula recommended by the National Eye Institute, which includes lutein and zeaxanthin, antioxidants that have been clinically shown to help reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration progression.
PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula mini soft gels with OCUSorb are available at most major retailers nationwide and will replace the current formula.
