Zeiss Launches Visucore 500, Designed to Simplify Refraction
Zeiss has launched the Zeiss Visucore 500, a two-in-one refraction unit combining objective and subjective refraction in one cycle.
Featuring open-field simulation, the unit’s binocular wavefront autorefractor is integrated into a fully automated digital phoropter, fit with company-specific optics with red/green separation. The dual cross cylinder employs a split prism that allows for side-by-side comparison of visual impressions for patients, Zeiss shares.
The machine is equipped with a new standardized guided mode that takes users through the refraction process step by step, and experienced examiners can perform objective and subjective refraction in less than 4.5 minutes, according to the company. Compared with a conventional Zeiss setup, Zeiss shares that its Visucore 500 reduces chair time for refraction by 46%.
Taking up less than eight square feet, the Zeiss Visucore 500 can provide additional exam capacity without requiring a major renovation, Zeiss shares, and holds a foldable near-vision test screen with a variable distance and multi-scale ruler.
Art Optical Introduces Microvault Option for Ampleye
Art Optical has released a microvault option for its Ampleye scleral lens to allow eyecare professionals (ECPs) to precisely accommodate scleral irregularities, according to the company.
The microvault can be customized and placed at any point, 360º along the edge of the lens, based on the estimated width and height of the scleral elevation. Art Optical shares that the microvault generates an area of lift, creating a uniform landing, that is specific to the individualized contour of the patient’s sclera.
In addition to the added microvault capability, the Ampleye scleral lens allows ECPs to control each of the four independent fitting zones with lens sizes in the 15.0mm to 17.0mm range, front-surface toricity, quadrant-specific peripheral adjustments, multifocal optics with near zone decentration, and more, according to the company.
Hubble Contacts Releases Silicone Hydrogel Daily Contact Lenses
Hubble Contacts has launched SkyHy by Hubble, a silicone hydrogel daily contact lens.
SkyHy by Hubble lenses are crafted with olifilcon B, which delivers a high Dk/t of 150, Hubble shares. The lens design features low rigidity with a multi-curvature edge that, according to the company, keeps the lenses in place for uninterrupted clarity and comfort while actively promoting wettability by locking in moisture to provide continual hydration.
