Oculus Easyfield VR Enables Streamlined Practice Flow + Staff Onboarding
OCULUS INC. has launched the Oculus Easyfield VR, a lightweight, easily adjustable, and foam-padded virtual reality (VR) headset that conducts visual field screenings and threshold exams in addition to color vision, contrast sensitivity, and stereo vision screenings, according to the company.
Equipped with SmartTracker 2 Fixation Tracking technology to ensure reliable, reproducible results, the device is designed to streamline practice flow and improve the patient experience by allowing ECPs to conduct a variety of vision tests without requiring a dark room, Oculus Inc. shares. Patients can complete their testing autonomously, as the device features audio-guided examinations in English and Spanish.
The Easyfield VR headset connects to a Surface Pro tablet, where practitioners can start and monitor the exam process without an internet connection, and shares a database with other Oculus diagnostic devices that have the same patient data software. According to Oculus Inc., this allows for smooth integration and onboarding with familiar progression analysis printouts and access to Oculus’ training and technical support. oculususa.com
Reichert to Distribute SBM Sistemi Products in U.S.
REICHERT TECHNOLOGIES has partnered with SBM Sistemi to distribute SBM’s ocular surface assessment technologies in the U.S.
This line of patient and data management software allows ECPs to review images and provide immediate diagnoses to their patients.
According to the company, the Reichert-SBM IDRA is a complete system for dry eye disease (DED) diagnosis, designed to provide quick, painless, and noninvasive assessment. It works by evaluating all tear film layers in addition to the meibomian glands to identify the specific type of DED and provide personalized treatment recommendations.
Combining a corneal topographer with DED assessment, the OS1000 is an integrated diagnostic platform that allows ECPs to perform various DED and topography tests. Reichert-SBM’s anterior imaging camera system, the DEM100-DSLC200, is available with comprehensive DED assessment and is compatible with a wide range of slit lamps.
The Activa provides noninvasive treatment of symptoms caused by meibomian gland dysfunction and associated evaporative dry eye through controlled heating and micro-vibrations that stimulate the meibomian glands, according to Reichert-SBM. reichert.com
