Proclear Parameter Expansions

CooperVision has expanded the parameters of its Proclear Sphere and Proclear 1-Day contact lenses. The company expanded the sphere powers of its Proclear Sphere lens for a new range of +20.00D to –20.00D. Base curve and diameter parameters remain the same at 8.6mm and 14.2mm, respectively.

The Proclear 1-Day lens is now available in a plus sphere power range up to +6.00D. CooperVision is also now offering this lens in a 30-lens revenue carton, which the company says is ideally suited for occasional lens wearers. Parameter Expansion for Low-Cylinder Toric

Hydrogel Vision Corporation has expanded its Extreme H₂O 54% Toric LC (low cylinder, –0.65D) with around-the-clock axes in 15-degree steps. All available axes include 15, 30, 45, 60, 105, 120, 135, 150, 165 and 180 degrees. The company says the expansion to 15-degree steps enables a more precise fit while still requiring fewer parameters, enabling a quick fit. New Parameters for Silicone Hydrogel Toric

CIBA Vision has released additional parameters for its Air Optix for Astigmatism silicone hydrogel lens. The expansion includes a new –2.25D cylinder power available from plano to –6.00D in 0.25D steps; in addition, the –1.25D and –1.75D cylinder powers are now also available in high minus powers (–6.50D to –9.00D in 0.50D steps). CIBA plans to further expand the parameter range for Air Optix for Astigmatism in the future to include plus powers.

Air Optix for Astigmatism lenses are manufactured in lotrafilcon B material. The current full parameter range includes 8.7mm base curve, 14.5mm diameter and powers from plano to –6.00D in 0.25D steps with cylinder powers of –0.75D, –1.25D, –1.75D and –2.25D, and from –6.50D to –9.00D in 0.50D steps in –1.25D and –1.75D cylinder powers. Preservative-Free Artificial Tear Launches

Allergan, Inc. has expanded its Optive Brand line with the addition of Optive Sensitive Preservative-Free Lubricant Eye Drops, an over-the-counter artificial tear for patients suffering from dry eye or dryness following LASIK surgery. It is the only eye drop labeled for use post-LASIK, according to Allergan.

Optive is Allergan's line of artificial tears with a dual-action formula that works on both the ocular surface and at the cellular level to provide long-lasting relief from dry eye symptoms. It first provides a lubricating and hydrating protective shield on the surface of the eye, then penetrates below the surface to provide osmoprotection to the corneal epithelial cells from excessive salt levels, according to Allergan.
