Large-Diameter GP for Irregular Corneas

Lensco recently launched its Zenith LD, a large-diameter GP lens incorporating an easy-to-understand secondary and peripheral curve system, according to the manufacturer. Lensco says that using a large-diameter lens allows practitioners to have fitting success and optimal patient comfort with problematic fits such as irregular corneas, globus cones, pellucid marginal degeneration, post-penetrating keratoplasty, post-refractive surgery and keratoconus.

SOCT Receives FDA Marketing Approval

Reichert, Inc. has received 510k clearance from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to market its Reichert-Optopol SOCT Copernicus in the United States. The SOCT Copernicus is a spectral optical coherence tomographer that uses spectral tomography to deliver high-resolution 3-D images of the retina at a much higher speed than current time domain OCTs, according to Reichert.

The company says that the SOCT Copernicus was the first commercially available SOCT ophthalmic imaging device in the world market and is now available for purchase in the United States. The instrument is used for invivo imaging and measurement of the retina to enhance the diagnosis and monitoring of retinal disease as well as for pre- and post-surgical assessment of patients, according to the company.
