Portable Perimeter Screening Device
NovaVision, Inc. recently launched the NovaVision HMP Head-Mounted Perimeter, a new medical device created to make visual field testing more accessible for patients who have disabilities and for practitioners who have mobile practices, according to NovaVision.
THE NOVAVISION HMP HEAD-MOUNTED PERIMETER IS PORTABLE AND MORE CONVENIENT FOR PATIENTS WHO HAVE CERTAIN DISABILITIES.
The NovaVision HMP Head-Mounted Perimeter is an automated portable visual field screening device that quickly and reliably tests a 60x44-degree visual field using a supra-threshold 3 zone testing strategy, according to NovaVision. The company says the HMP can be used in multiple office locations and with patients who may not be able to sit at a table-mounted device due to physical constraints, making it ADA-compliant. Additionally, NovaVision claims that the HMP delivers detailed information with test points every 4 degrees (most other devices have test points every 6 degrees). The hardware is comprised of a head-mounted display with state-of-the-art optics, a response button for patients and a touch screen for practitioner use. It comes in a carrying case for travel. Two Diagnostic Devices Launch
Hightech American Industrial (HAI) Laboratories, Inc. has launched two new FDA 510(k)-approved devices: The HAI CL-1000nc Non-Contact Specular Microscope and HAI CL-1000eva Endothelium Viewing Attachment. The double product launch follows HAI Labs' acquisition of non-contact specular technology from the German company Rhine-Tec gmbH that was improved and integrated with existing HAI technology and manufacturing processes.
The HAI CL-1000nc is a complete non-contact specular microscope system. It features a patented automatic switching mechanism between two internal cameras for targeting the endothelium, as well as fully automated image capture, best image selection, enhancement, and cell analysis, according to the company.
HAI says that its CL-1000eva has a sleek, space-saving design that can attach to a slit lamp. At just 2.2 pounds, it is lighter and smaller than a laptop, connects to a PC via firewire, and is compatible with most EMR systems. Call (781) 862-9884 or visit www.hailabs.com.
