New Multifocal Daily Disposable Option
As reported in last month's News Spectrum, CooperVision recently launched its Proclear 1 Day Multifocal daily disposable contact lenses, which the company says offer the convenience of a daily disposable lens for full-time or occasional wearers, along with allday comfort and high performance for patients who want an overall, more natural visual experience. CooperVision says that the new lens strikes the right balance between patient and practitioner satisfaction, as it's designed to be easy to fit while still providing excellent vision performance and comfort.
COOPERVISION'S PROCLEAR 1 DAY MULTIFOCAL.
Proclear 1 Day Multifocal lenses are manufactured with PC Technology, a unique lens material that attracts and maintains moisture, thus reducing dryness, according to CooperVision, and they have a center-near aspheric design. Parameters include sphere powers from +6.00D to -10.00D (0.50D steps after -6.00D); a base curve of 8.7mm; and a diameter of 14.2mm. The lens is designed with a single power profile that can accommodate patients with up to +2.50D add power. Call (800) 341-2020 or visit www.coopervision.com.
Topography Software for Corneal Reshaping
Paragon Vision Sciences' Corneal Topography Software is a program for facilitating the selection of Paragon CRT, Paragon CRT Dual Axis, and Paragon RG-4 corneal reshaping contact lenses based on topography data. The software is supplemental to the CRT Lens Selector Slide Rule.
The program imports corneal topography data from a variety of commercially available systems and displays simulated fluorescein patterns of various Paragon corneal reshaping contact lens designs. Topography systems that can be used with the software include Medmont Studio 4 - 5, Oculus Easygraph, Oculus Keratograph 4, Tomey Version 1 through 4, and Keratron Scout/Piccolo (Optikon/Eyequip). Paragon says that adjusting parameters of the corneal reshaping lens to view the alternate fitting and treatment patterns is simple. System Requirements for the software include Windows XP, Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. Both 32 and 64 bit versions are compatible. Call (800) 528-8279 or visit www.paragonvision.com.
Oil-Based Emulsion for Dry Eye Relief
OcuSoft, Inc., now offers Retaine MGD Ophthalmic Emulsion, a new therapy for individuals suffering from dry eye syndrome and meibomian gland dysfunction.
Retaine MGD is the only preservative-free, oil-in-water emulsion that moisturizes, lubricates, and protects moderate to severe dry eyes, according to OcuSoft. Utilizing Novasorb Technology—a proprietary cationic process of binding positively charged ions to the negatively charged ocular surface—the company states that Retaine MGD prolongs corneal contact time, resulting in enhanced comfort. The hypotonicity of the emulsion adds moisture by lowering the salt concentration of tears while the lipid component lubricates and protects the surface of the eye.
RETAINE MGD IS DESIGNED TO STAY ON THE CORNEA LONGER.
Retaine MGD is packaged in 30 singledose vials and will be the first product in a complete line of Retaine brand artificial tears. Special discount pricing is available to practitioners dispensing from their office, and patients may also order online directly at www.retainebrand .com.
