SiHy Daily Disposable Lens Launches in U.S.
Vistakon recently announced the U.S. introduction of its 1-Day Acuvue TruEye Brand contact lenses (narafilcon A). The narafilcon A lens is now available at some U.S. eyecare professionals’ offices, with distribution expected to grow throughout the coming months.
1-Day Acuvue TruEye (narafilcon A) will gradually replace 1-Day Acuvue TruEye (narafilcon B), which was launched in the United States in 2010. The company says that there will be a finite amount of time in which both the narafilcon A and narafilcon B products are available in the United States, and its aim is to quickly transition to the narafilcon A product. A majority of the material properties are similar in both lenses, but they are different products, according to Vistakon. The narafilcon A lens is available in a second base curve (8.5mm and 9.0mm) compared to the narafilcon B lens. The narafilcon A lens also has a higher Dk/t of 118.
1-Day Acuvue TruEye (narafilcon A) will only be available in 90-packs. Call (800) 847-5278 or visit www.acuvueprofessional.com.
1-DAY ACUVUE TRUEYE IN NARAFILCON A HAS COME TO THE UNITED STATES.
Scleral Parameter Expansion
Acculens now offers its newest scleral lens, Maxim 15.4mm. The company says that this lens is indicated for patients who may require a smaller scleral design for reasons such as fissure size, small corneal diameter, and emerging to moderate conditions such as pellucid marginal degeneration or moderate keratoconus.
The Maxim Scleral lens is indicated for managing corneal distortion and dry eye. It is available in custom parameters manufactured in Boston XO2 (Bausch + Lomb). Thirty-lens trial sets are available free of charge. Call (800) 5252470 or visit www.acculens.com.

New High-Dk Hybrid Lens for Keratoconus
As reported in the March 2013 News Spectrum, SynergEyes has launched UltraHealth, its next-generation hybrid contact lens for patients who have irregular corneas and keratoconus.
The reverse geometry design concept features a combination of a soft skirt (Dk 84) and central GP material (Dk 130). It is designed to create a central area of vault, available in several vault heights. The silicone hydrogel skirt is available in three curves (flat, medium, steep) to assure centration and patient comfort, according to the company. SynergEyes says that with proper fitting, the proprietary soft lift curve assures corneal clearance with no hard landing zone, thereby enhancing patient comfort. The reverse geometry design allows the lens to achieve the vault required to contain the cone with a flatter base curve compared to a standard geometry design, requiring a lower minus lens power, according to the company. SynergEyes also says that the flatter base curve radius allows the centration of UltraHealth to be less dependent on the location of the cone. Better centration in concert with a lower power is designed to reduce aberrations and increase the quality of vision. Call (877) SEE-2012 or visit www.synergeyes.com.
