New Peroxide-Based Lens Care System Enters Market

Bausch + Lomb (B+L) has introduced PeroxiClear 3% hydrogen peroxide cleaning and disinfecting solution as an alternative peroxide-based product. According to B+L, PeroxiClear solution has been proven to keep contact lenses cleaner and moister for longer.

B+L’S PEROXICLEAR IS DESIGNED TO NEUTRALIZE FASTER AND TO KEEP CONTACT LENSES CLEANER AND MOISTER COMPARED TO OTHER PEROXIDE CARE SOLUTIONS.

PeroxiClear solution contains Triple-Moist Technology, which helps provide up to 20 hours of moisture. The company says that PeroxiClear provides the disinfection efficacy that you expect from a hydrogen peroxide solution, but neutralizes in only four hours, as compared to six hours with other peroxides.

Toric and Multifocal Daily Disposable Lenses Introduced

Alcon recently introduced the Dailies AquaComfort Plus family of one-day contact lenses, manufactured in nelfilcon A (69% water content), with the additions of toric and multifocal contact lens designs to the portfolio.

The Dailies AquaComfort Plus Toric daily disposable lens combines the same dual thin zone Precision Curve Lens Design of Focus Dailies Toric contact lenses with the Blink-Activated Moisture of the Dailies AquaComfort Plus sphere contact lens.

Dailies AquaComfort Plus Toric contact lenses are available in a greatly expanded parameter range compared to Focus Dailies Toric, including 8.8mm base curve, 14.4mm diameter, sphere powers of +4.00D to –6.00D (0.25D steps) and –6.50D to –10.00D (–0.50D steps); and cylinder powers of –0.75D, –1.25D, and –1.75D in axes at 90º ±20º degrees and 180º ±20º in 10º steps. Larger-Diameter Soft Lens Now Available

Hydrogel Vision Corporation has expanded its Icuity H₂O product line with the 14.8mm diameter Icuity H₂O LD. Hydrogel Vision says the larger diameter acts as a problem solver for patients who would benefit from a larger lens, and that the lens provides increased comfort for patients who experience lens awareness in the lens that they are currently wearing.

According to the company, the 14.8mm diameter provides full coverage sitting under the lid so any interaction that could cause discomfort from the lens edge is gone.

Silicone Hydrogel Lens Family Launches

Vision Source is launching this month the Fresh Day silicone hydrogel family of lenses, manufactured by Sauflon. A Vision Source exclusive brand, Fresh Day offers a full portfolio of daily disposable silicone hydrogel lenses at a cost similar to daily disposable hydrogel lenses, according to the companies.

The Fresh Day material features AquaGen technology, which Vision Source says ensures a perfect balance of long-lasting comfort and ocular health at a low cost.
