DD Multifocal Addresses Pupil Size and Refractive Power

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. (JJVCI) has launched 1-Day Acuvue Moist Brand Multifocal contact lenses. According to the company, the lens was created with a unique aspheric center-near design for the presbyopic eye, with an Eye-Inspired Design. It matches the optical design to the pupil size for a better visual experience, according to JJVCI. Sixty-one distance powers (+6.00D to –9.00D in 0.25D steps) and three add powers (Low, Mid, and High) offer 183 unique designs. Other parameters include an 8.4mm base curve and 14.3mm diameter.

JJVCI says that the hybrid back curve design helps deliver a superior vision experience because: 1) the spherical periphery helps ensure centration of the optics over the pupil; and 2) the aspheric center closely mimics the natural shape of the cornea to maintain the integrity of the front-surface optics.

Hybrid Lens for Oblate Corneas

SynergEyes, Inc. recently announced the nationwide availability of its UltraHealth FC, a new hybrid lens in an oblate design. Combining exceptional GP optics with SoftCushion comfort technology, SynergEyes says that this hybrid lens is indicated for post-refractive surgery patients.

UltraHealth FC has a reverse geometry vaulted lens design that includes a 130-Dk GP center and an 84-Dk silicone hydrogel skirt.
