3D Corneo-Scleral Topography System Now Available

Visionary Optics has announced the launch of the sMap3D corneo-scleral topography system in the United States. The sMap3D is manufactured by Precision Ocular Metrology. It uses a structured light approach for 3D mapping to obtain micro precision measurements of the cornea and sclera with a 22mm maximum field of view, according to the company.

The sMapPro software is designed to stitch together multiple images, which allows practitioners to obtain the maximum area of the sclera that is occluded by the lids in a straight gaze view despite the eyelids being held open. The company says this ability is critical for scleral lens fitting using elevation topography.

The sMapPro software also provides sagittal depth data at any specified chord. In addition, scleral toricity can be calculated from any specified radius from center. The virtual fit screen allows practitioners to send data directly to Visionary Optics for analysis and design of a customized Europa scleral lens. Alternatively, practitioners can tailor lens fit using the software’s virtual fitting plots. Anterior Segment Tomography and Optical Biometry Device

The Oculus Pentacam AXL has received the 510(k) clearance of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Pentacam AXL provides anterior segment tomography and optical biometry—all in one device and with a single measuring operation.

Oculus says that the intuitive and network-compatible intraocular lens (IOL) calculation software uses standard formulas, ray-tracing formulas, and formulas for treated corneas that are already integrated into the IOL calculator. A comprehensive IOL database with IOL constants for the Pentacam AXL is also integrated.

In addition, Oculus says that the Pentacam AXL offers a well-targeted screening process; a Fast Screening Report, which shows how the individual measuring data compares to normative data; Belin/Ambrósio Enhanced Ectasia Display, which provides early detection of corneal ectasia; and densitometric evaluation, such as Corneal Optical Densitometry and Pentacam Nucleus Staging (PNS), for every cataract patient.
