SYNERGEYES LAUNCHES SCLERAL AND GP LENSES

SynergEyes now offers the SynergEyes VS scleral lens and the SynergEyes GP II corneal GP lens.

The SynergEyes VS scleral lens has a distinctive bi-tangential periphery designed to accommodate a wide variety of corneal conditions. SynergEyes says that the toric periphery of the lens may be precisely controlled in both the flat and steep meridians, aligning with the sclera for ease of landing and stability. The lens was designed by scleral lens authorities at Visser Contact Lens, in association with NKL Contactlenzen, a Menicon subsidiary, in the Netherlands. SynergEyes says the lens has been successfully prescribed to thousands of irregular cornea contact lens patients in 24 Visser Contact Lens Eye Clinics throughout Europe.

The SynergEyes VS scleral lens is integrated into the RxConnect Fitting Resource. This system combines topographical information with exam data to recommend the initial trial lens from the 16-lens diagnostic set.

Parameters include sagittal depths of 3,000 to 4,600 microns in 100-micron steps, flat and steep meridian angles of 28º to 50º in 2º steps, base curves of 7.40mm to 9.20mm in 0.2mm steps, diameters of 14.0mm to 17.5mm in 0.5mm steps, and powers of –25.00D to +25.00D in 0.25D steps. Front toric parameters include cylinder powers of –0.75D to –3.00D in 0.25D steps and axes from 0º to 180º in 1º steps. It is manufactured in Menicon Z material or Optimum Extreme (Contamac).

The SynergEyes GP II lens is a larger-diameter corneal lens that has a unique tear reservoir that allows for increased midperipheral tear exchange, resulting in great comfort, according to the company. SynergEyes says that a linear landing zone creates a gentle, comfortable lens edge. The GP II lens delivers excellent, stable centration and is ideal for patients seeking greater comfort with GP lenses, according to the company.

The SynergEyes GP II lens is also integrated into the RxConnect Fitting Resource. Eyecare professional can make lens parameter changes and instantly view resulting simulated fluorescein patterns.

Parameters include diameters of 10.2mm, 10.6mm (standard), and 11.0mm; base curves of 6.5mm to 9.2mm in 0.05mm steps; and powers of –25.00D to +25.00D in 0.25D steps. Toric, bitoric, and multifocal parameters include cylinder powers of –0.75D to –3.00D in 0.25D steps and add powers of +1.00D to +3.00D in 0.50D steps (center distance). ESSILOR RELEASES SCLERAL CONTACT LENS

Essilor Contact Lenses now offers the ProLook Scleral Contact Lens, a 16.6mm scleral lens with controlled flexing, according to the company. The set includes a toric peripheral curve (PC) trial lens to help determine whether toric PCs are needed and how much toricity to use. The lenses can be customized, if needed, to have any amount of reverse geometry.
