NuSight Medical has introduced the NuLids system, which the company says is a novel, safe and effective, practitioner-prescribed, home-use medical device that efficiently treats dry eye. By gently stimulating, de-capping, and rejuvenating the meibomian glands to a healthier state, NuLids improves dry eye clinical signs and symptoms, according to the company. BAUSCH + LOMB INTRODUCES BLUE LIGHT EYE VITAMIN, PRESERVATIVE FREE SOOTHE XP

Bausch + Lomb (B+L) recently introduced Ocuvite Blue Light eye vitamins and Soothe Xtra Protection (XP) Preservative Free Lubricant Eye Drops.

Ocuvite Blue Light eye vitamins are a nutritional supplement formulated with lutein and zeaxanthin, the two carotenoid pigments naturally found in the eye. B+L says that this formulation of eye nutrients contains 25mg of lutein and 5mg of zeaxanthin isomers, which help replenish the macular pigment layer that helps filter blue light before it reaches the macula. QUANTEL MEDICAL INTRODUCES LACRYDIAG

Quantel Medical, a subsidiary of the Lumibird Group, announced its new diagnostic device, LacryDiag, which allows eyecare practitioners to analyze, through non-contact exams, the ocular surface to evaluate the lipid, aqueous, and mucinic layers of the tears. Quantel Medical says that the device performs four non-contact exams in four minutes including interferometry (diagnosis of the lipid layer), tear meniscus (diagnosis of the aqueous layer), non-invasive breakup time (diagnosis of the mucin layer), and meibography of the upper and lower eyelids (diagnosis of the meibomian glands).

Quantel Medical says that LacryDiag is an ocular surface analyzer that complies with the dry eye diagnosis recommendations established in the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society’s Dry Eye Workshop II report.
