AVT SIGNS LICENSING AGREEMENT TO MANUFACTURE THE DRL ORTHO-K DESIGN
Advanced Vision Technologies (AVT) and France-based Precilens have signed a license agreement whereby AVT will manufacture the DRL ortho-k design in the United States. DRL, or Double Reservoir Lens, was invented by Dr. Jaume Paune of Spain. AVT says that its unique features enable correcting myopia up to –7.00D and cylinder up to –4.00D at any axis. The DRL is also available for hyperopia up to +4.00D. The optical zone can easily be customized for children, according to AVT. OPTOVUE RECEIVES FDA CLEARANCE FOR ANGIOANALYTICS
Optovue announced FDA 510(k) clearance of AngioAnalytics, which the company says is the world’s first optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) blood vessel measurement technology to help clinicians manage diseases that cause progressive blindness. The company also received clearance for its three-dimensional projection artifact removal (3D PAR) software, which greatly improves OCTA image quality and enables accurate measurement and interpretation of OCTA images, according to Optovue. BAUSCH + LOMB LAUNCHES LUMIFY
Bausch + Lomb (B+L) has launched Lumify (brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution 0.025%), an over-the-counter (OTC) eye drop developed with low-dose brimonidine tartrate for the treatment of eye redness. Lumify is an alpha-2 (α2) adrenergic receptor (AR) agonist with a unique method of action that selectively constricts venules while maintaining the availability of oxygen to surrounding tissue. The brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution 0.025% product was licensed by Eye Therapies, Inc. to Bausch & Lomb Incorporated or its affiliates. CLX LAUNCHES AUTOMATED CONTACT LENS SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE
The CLX System, a contact lens management and marketing solution, recently released a customizable contact lens subscription service available to the system’s premium users. CLX Subscription enables eyecare practitioners (ECPs) to defend their patient relationships and capture more annual supply revenue by providing their patients with convenient and flexible reordering options, according to the company.
CLX System states that this subscription service gives ECPs the ability to offer patients a way to automatically replenish their contact lenses and capture the full year of purchases in a more convenient payment program. CLX automatically bills patients and facilitates the shipment of the contact lenses straight to their door at scheduled intervals by the practice’s distributor of choice. All patient communications are customized with the ECP’s logo and brand, and all revenue from contact lens sales are directly deposited to the ECP’s bank account.
