ALCON LAUNCHES AIR OPTIX PLUS HYDRAGLYDE MULTIFOCAL CONTACT LENSES

Alcon is expanding its multifocal portfolio with the launch of Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal contact lenses. The lenses incorporate Alcon’s Precision Profile Design together with the HydraGlyde molecule, which the company says provides clear, seamless vision at all distances; lasting lens surface moisture through the HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix; and excellent deposit protection and consistent comfort with Alcon’s SmartShield Technology.

Air Optix plus HydraGlyde Multifocal is a monthly replacement lens manufactured in lotrafilcon B material. Parameters include 8.6mm base curve, 14.2mm diameter, 0.08mm center thickness at –3.00D, sphere powers from +6.00D to –10.00D (0.25D steps), and adds of Lo, Med, and Hi. EYEVANCE PHARMACEUTICALS LAUNCHES FRESHKOTE PF

As reported in our News Spectrum, Eyevance Pharmaceuticals, LLC acquired Freshkote, a family of lubricant eye drops, from Focus Laboratories, Inc. and announced the immediate launch of Freshkote PF.

According to the company, Freshkote PF is designed to support the integrity of all three layers of the eye’s tear film, offering dry eye patients relief from their symptoms. Freshkote PF is designed to combat evaporation on the ocular surface with a patented polymer blend formulated to mimic the lipid layer of the tear film. Eyevance says that Freshkote PF is safe for contact lens wearers and can be used on an as-needed basis. SPECIALEYES INTRODUCES OPTISYNC TECHNOLOGY FOR MULTIFOCAL LENSES

SpecialEyes, LLC has introduced OptiSync Technology, which makes it possible to correct a misalignment between the multifocal optics and a patient’s visual axis. According to the company, this type of misalignment can cause poor visual acuity, induced aberrations, and subjective complaints of glare, shadows, 3D effects, and halos.

OptiSync Technology is a customization feature that offsets (shifts) the multifocal optics from the center of the lens to better align with a patient’s visual axis.
