Johnson & Johnson Vision now offers Acuvue RevitaLens Multi-Purpose Disinfecting Solution (MPDS). Its dual-disinfecting formula is gentle on the eyes but tough on harmful germs and bacteria, according to the company. Johnson & Johnson Vision says that Acuvue RevitaLens MPDS disinfects like a peroxide with the simplicity and comfort of a multipurpose solution. It offers broad-spectrum disinfection against FDA/ISO standard-panel microorganisms, comparable to peroxide systems; greater than 99.9% kill-rate against both forms of Acanthamoeba (in vitro); and lens comfort that lasts all day, according to the company.

CANON U.S.A. INC. RECEIVES 510(K) CLEARANCE FOR XEPHILIO OCT-A1

Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced that its Xephilio OCT-A1 Optical Coherence Tomography device from Canon Inc. has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance. The device, together with the required RX Capture software, computer, and LCD monitor (collectively, the “Xephilio OCT-A1 System”), is indicated for in-vivo imaging and measurement of the retina, retinal nerve fiber layer, and optic disc. Its integrated scanning laser ophthalmoscopic real-time retinal tracking technology is designed to automatically retain the scan position and protocol for each patient from one exam to the next, eliminating the need for manual adjustment, according to Canon. VSP OPTICS LAUNCHES DAILY DISPOSABLE COATED WITH TANGIBLE SCIENCE POLYMERS

VSP Optics recently announced the launch of Unity BioSync contact lenses. These daily disposable spherical contact lenses provide ideal comfort and optical performance through a proprietary combination of silicone hydrogel material and a proprietary polymer coating that is exclusive to Unity BioSync, according to VSP Optics. The product was co-developed with Tangible Science, which says that it is the first daily disposable silicone hydrogel contact lens featuring a modified formula of the patented Tangible Hydra-PEG polymer technology bonded to the surface of the lens.

Unity BioSync is made with HydraMist, Tangible’s proprietary polymer that was developed specifically for silicone hydrogel contact lenses. VSP Optics says that it features unique moisture retaining polymers for an increased level of hydration throughout the day. HydraMist aims to improve the biocompatibility of the contact lens material to the surface of the eye.

Unity BioSync is manufactured in olifilcon B, which has a water content of 47% and a reported Dk/t of 150. Parameters include a base curve of 8.8mm, a diameter of 14.1mm, and sphere powers of +8.00D to –10.00D (0.50D steps above ±6.00D).

Konan Medical now offers EyeKinetix, its second-generation pupillograph that the company says is smaller, faster, easier to use, and less expensive compared to its predecessor, RAPDx. EyeKinetix features the RAPDx objective, automated test to assess relative afferent pupillary defects (RAPDs) in less than one minute, according to Konan. The device also measures high- and low-light pupil sizes, which Konan says may be useful for multifocal IOLs, contact lenses, and refractive surgery implications.

TOPCON LAUNCHES MAESTRO2 WITH AUTOMATED OCTA

Topcon Medical Systems, Inc. recently launched the Maestro2 Automated OCT/Fundus Camera, now with OCTA. Topcon says that the Maestro2 is a fully automated optical coherence tomography (OCT) system that can capture high-resolution non-mydriatic, true color fundus photography, OCT, and OCT angiography (OCTA) with the single press of a button. It now also offers the Hood Report for the structure/function analysis of glaucoma. Additionally, it features a 360° rotating intuitive touchscreen, a small footprint, and space-saving design, according to the company.

Topcon says that the Maestro2 is easy to use and features Imagenet 6 capture software for dynamic viewing of OCT and imaging data. Additionally, Topcon says that its PinPoint Registration precisely matches specified areas within OCT and OCTA scans upon the color fundus image. The Maestro2’s new follow-up scan feature scans the same location at each patient visit, which is beneficial for follow-up visits and tracking diseases over time, according to the company.
