ICARE USA LAUNCHES CONFOCAL FUNDUS IMAGING SYSTEM AND HANDHELD TONOMETER
Icare USA recently released the Centervue DRSplus confocal fundus imaging system and the Icare ic200 handheld tonometer.
The DRSplus confocal fundus imaging system uses white LED illumination, which includes the entire visible spectrum, to produce TrueColor and detail-rich images, setting a new standard for retinal imaging, according to the company. Icare USA says that compared to traditional fundus camera imaging, DRS-plus images are sharper, with better optical resolution and greater contrast, even through cataracts. Physicians can view detailed 45º retinal images as well as panoramic 80º images using the Mosaic function. Fast, fully automated operation speeds up exam time and requires minimal training, according to the company.
The Icare ic200 is the next generation in Icare’s handheld tonometer line. Based on a rebound measuring principle, the device measures intraocular pressure (IOP) without any anesthetic drops, air puffs, or required specialized skills, according to the company. Enhancements to the ic200 include the ability to test patients while they are sitting, supine, or elevated. The company also says that a new streamlined design and user interface include light indicators to confirm that the tonometer is positioned properly for measurement. Visit www.icare-usa.com .

EAGLET EYE LAUNCHES SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR EYE SURFACE PROFILER
Eaglet Eye recently announced a major global release of the Eye Surface Profiler (ESP) software version 5.0. The new software now captures a larger and better image of the sclera—up to 50% more of the scleral surface—which the company says is a real advantage when designing larger lenses as well as when managing advanced pathologic eyes or dry eyes. The core data improvement translates to more detailed images, more data, and improved First Lens Fit algorithms.
In addition, this new ESP software features DirectConnect, which allows the ESP to connect directly to a custom lab’s fitting software, dramatically increasing the speed and accuracy of empirical fitting of specialty lenses, according to Eaglet Eye. At launch, DirectConnect includes BostonSight and Blanchard Labs, with more labs to follow. Now, with the push of a button, the ESP instantly sends all pertinent information to BostonSight’s FitConnect or to Blanchard’s Onefit Med fitting tools. With this feature, practitioners can more easily and quickly fit a specialty contact lens, even in the most complex cases, according to the company. ESP software 5.0 was distributed to all ESP owners worldwide at no charge. DirectConnect (and all features in 5.0) will be included, at no additional charge, on any ESPs purchased going forward. DR. CONTACT LENS FACILITATES ONLINE CONTACT LENS ORDERING
Drcontactlens.com is a HIPAA-compliant website that allows patients to order contact lenses seamlessly from their practice’s medical records. According to the company, patients can order with the ease of one click in a way that has never been available before. The comprehensive platform allows practitioners to see their entire business. It provides reports on who has ordered, has never ordered, and is due to order contact lenses from the practice. Practitioners can also see their potential sales revenue, and the technology gives practitioners endless ways to market to their patient base, according to the company.
Reminders and subscription texts and emails are sent when patients are due to order lenses and to return for their annual exam. The company says that it has created an “exit through the gift shop” technique to help reduce walking scripts; patients download their prescription from the drcontactlens.com portal, and from there they can place their order with one click and without waiting for the verification process.
The company says that the Dr. Contact Lens platform also helps to increase rebates, streamline ordering for staff, manage insurance billing, and lower return rates. It integrates with practitioners’ ABB Optical accounts (so that they get and manage their own bills) and works with some electronic health record (EHR) systems and offers support for patient orders.
