Alcon announced the nationwide launch of Precision1 one-day contact lenses, which the company says are designed to combat the top three drivers of new wearer dropout: poor vision, poor comfort, and handling issues.
Precision1 features SmartSurface Technology, which creates a microthin (~2 to 4 microns) layer of moisture on the lens surface. The core of the lens has a 51% water content, which steps up to 80% at the outer surface. Alcon says that this permanent layer provides longer-lasting surface moisture, supports a stable tear film for precise vision, and provides dependable comfort. The lens also provides ease of handling, according to the company.
Precision1 lenses are manufactured in verofilcon A silicone hydrogel material and feature a Class 1 ultraviolet blocker (≥ 90% of UVA, ≥ 99% of UVB), a Dk/t of 100 @ –3.00D, a core modulus of 0.6MPa, center thickness of 0.09mm at –3.00D, and a visitint. Parameters include 8.3mm base curve, 14.2mm diameter, and sphere powers of –0.50D to –6.00D (0.25D steps), –6.50D to –12.00D (0.50D steps), +0.50D to +6.00D (0.25D steps), and +6.50D to +8.00D (0.50D steps). EYERIS LAUNCHES DAILY DISPOSABLE LENS
Eyeris, a Nashville-based startup company, announced the release of its daily disposable contact lens. The lens is comfortable, breathable, and soft on the eye, according to the company. When purchased with annual vision insurance benefits, Eyeris says that it is the most affordable yearly supply of a daily disposable lens. In addition, the Eyeris Daily lens has a base curve of 8.5mm and a diameter of 14.3mm, which makes it unsubstitutable online, according to the company. The Eyeris Daily Lens contains emollients, hydration agents, and a cushioning agent.
