COOPERVISION LAUNCHES MYDAY DAILY DISPOSABLE MULTIFOCAL
CooperVision recently introduced MyDay Daily Disposable Multifocal contact lenses in the United States. These lenses are the first to feature the CooperVision Binocular Progressive System, a new three-add approach that caters to all levels of presbyopia, with a simple fitting process, optimal visual acuity at all distances, and comfortable wear, according to the company. CooperVision says that eyecare professionals can successfully fit 98% of patients with two pairs of MyDay Multifocal lenses or fewer when following the fitting guide.
The CooperVision Binocular Progressive System uses different lens designs to optimize vision for all levels of presbyopia, according to the company. CooperVision says that these allow the eyes to work in tandem, with a simple initial fit and an easy progression as the near requirement increases.
MyDay multifocal is manufactured in stenfilcon A (54% water, Dk/t of 100 at –3.00D). Parameters at launch include an 8.4mm base curve, 14.2mm diameter, and power range from +8.00D to –10.00D (in 0.25D steps) and from –10.50D to –12.00D (in 0.50D steps). The three add powers include low (+0.75D to +1.25D spectacle Rx add), medium (+1.50D to +1.75D spectacle Rx add), and high (+2.00D to +2.50D spectacle Rx add). CooperVision says that the lenses offer 85% UVA and 96% UVB blocking. Call (800) 341-2020 or visit https://coopervision.com/practitioner . ■
OYSTER POINT PHARMA ANNOUNCES TYRVAYA NASAL SPRAY FOR DRY EYE
Oyster Point Pharma recently received FDA approval and announced the availability of Tyrvaya (varenicline solution) Nasal Spray 0.03mg for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. Oyster Point Pharma says that Tyrvaya Nasal Spray is a highly selective cholinergic agonist delivered twice daily as an aqueous nasal spray into each nostril; it is believed to bind to cholinergic receptors to activate the trigeminal parasympathetic pathway, resulting in increased production of basal tear film as a treatment for dry eye disease, according to the company.
Oyster Point Pharma says that nasal spray administration provides a new way to treat dry eye disease without administering medication onto an already irritated ocular surface. In addition, nasal delivery may allow some patients who have difficulty independently administering topical eye drops to administer independently their prescribed dry eye disease therapy, according to the company.
Oyster Point says that Tyrvaya is now available at U.S. regional wholesalers for distribution to pharmacies. Visit www.tyrvaya-pro.com . ■
COOPERVISION SPECIALTY EYECARE NOW OFFERS DECENTERED OPTICS FOR ONEFIT MED
CooperVision Specialty Eyecare announced the launch of Optimized Pupil Optics (OPO) for its Onefit Med and Onefit Med+ scleral contact lenses in the United States and Canada. The new design option—which is supported by a user-friendly online fitting tool—enables ECPs to reposition the multifocal optics to align with the visual axis, which is key to achieving superior results and subjective vision, according to the company.
OPO lenses incorporate several markings, including a 6 o’clock dot indication to help patients orient the lens correctly on their eye and a circle of eight small dots at 6mm to indicate the new center of the optics for pupil centration, plus toric hash marks notating the flat meridian as used in other Onefit Med toric haptic designs.
