VOLK OPTICAL OFFERS CLEARPODS TO PREVENT FUNDUS LENS FOGGING
Volk Optical released the ClearPod to solve the problem of mask-related fogging during fundus examinations. This patent-pending design was created in collaboration with ophthalmologists Dr. Bradley Sacher and Dr. Jeremy Wingard. The ClearPod clips securely onto the Volk fundus lens and forms a barrier, directing air currents escaping from the top of patients’ masks away from the lens surface for a clear uninterrupted view, according to the company. Small and light, Volk says that the device is designed to allow physicians to retain their natural grip on the lens. The shield on the device is carefully designed to accommodate the right working distance while providing maximum fog diversion, according to the company.
Apart from helping with fogging, Volk says that the ClearPod can also be used as an aid for students learning ophthalmoscopy. The ClearPod is currently available for the 90D and the 78D lenses. Volk plans to release ClearPods for its Digital Wide Field and SuperField lenses early next year. Visit www.volk.com or email volk@volk.com.
