MENICON ANNOUNCES U.S. LAUNCH OF MIRU 1DAY UPSIDE
Menicon America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Menicon Co. Ltd., has announced the launch of Miru 1day UpSide, a silicone hydrogel daily disposable lens that utilizes SmartTouch technology in its packaging. The lens will be available in the United States starting Nov. 3, 2021.
Miru 1day UpSide incorporates both MeniSilk Air and NanoGloss Pro technologies to create an optimal balance of material and surface properties, according to the company. Menicon says that the combination of these two technologies delivers a lens optimized for eye health—providing high oxygen, an ultra-low modulus, and a smooth, low-friction surface.
The SmartTouch package, when opened, always presents the lens convex side up, resting on a small bump, which provides ease of handling and reduces patients’ risk of inner lens contamination, according to the company.
Miru 1day UpSide is manufactured in midafilcon A, with a water content of 56%, reported Dk/t of 91, modulus of 0.36MPa, and center thickness of 0.07mm at –3.00D. Parameters include 8.4mm base curve, 14.2mm diameter, and sphere powers at launch of –0.25D to –7.00D (0.50D steps starting at –6.00D). In early 2022, sphere powers will expand to +6.00D to +0.25D (0.25D steps), –0.25D to –6.00D (0.25D steps), and –6.50D to –13.00D (0.50D steps). A multifocal design will also be added in the first half of 2022. The lens also features a Class 2 UV blocker and a handling tint. Call (800) 636-4266 or visit www.meniconamerica.com . ■

RIGHTEYE LAUNCHES SENSORIMOTOR EXAM FOR BINOCULAR VISION TESTING
RightEye LLC, an eye-tracking technology company, has launched an automated, quantitative sensorimotor exam system. RightEye Sensorimotor is an easy-to-use, all-in-one examination system that optometrists and ophthalmologists can perform on every patient, allowing them to objectively identify and quickly address binocular vision issues and oculomotor dysfunction, according to the company. RightEye says that the complete hardware-and-software solution is easily integrated into a practice’s existing patient flow, requiring little to no unbillable practitioner time. And, because it is insurance reimbursable, it can add substantial incremental revenue to a practice, according to the company.
RightEye says that screenings with the RightEye Sensorimotor can be conducted in less than 30 seconds by a technician. If a patient fails the screening and the practitioner identifies medical necessity, the fully automated sensorimotor exam can be run in less than five minutes, according to the company. RightEye says that data-rich test results are produced in seconds, allowing practitioners to immediately develop and deliver their diagnosis to patients.
