Hi, my name is Dr. Susan Gromacki, and I just presented a breakout session at the 2026 Global Specialty Lens Symposium titled, “Keratoconus Lens Fitting Before and After Surgery.”
Specialty contact lenses are the mainstay of treatment for irregular corneas, and that includes those with keratoconus.
So many of my patients just can't see well with spectacles or soft torque disposable contact lenses. The good news is, we have more options than ever before to fit the keratoconic cornea. But, we also have more corneal shapes than ever before, especially after surgery, to include PKP [penetrating keratoplasty], DALK [deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty], cross-linking, CK [conductive keratoplasty], Intacs [intrastromal corneal ring segments], CAIRS [corneal allogenic intrastromal ring segments], and CTAK [corneal tissue addition keratoplasty].
What I talked about is the myriad of choices that we have, and the fact is, is that we need to select the best lens that aligns with both the patient's corneal shape and scleral shape, but also their lifestyle. And that is what I addressed in this talk in Las Vegas. Thank you for coming.
